Granite Burn 2023 (formerly Don’t Take it for Granite) was hosted by Granite State Burners in conjunction with Borealis Arts LLC at a private landowner’s location in Bradford, NH. The event occurred September 29th – October 1, 2023. Weather was beautiful with clear warm days in the 70’s and cool nights in the 50’s, and full “super moon” the first evening.

The call for volunteers went very well and there was a lot of support. A core group of about 12 people came together to make the event happen. This includes a couple
pre-event work weekends and numerous Zoom meetings.

An effigy and temple were built and burned. Two large event tents were set up: one for chill space, the other with lighting and DJs. Several different DJs attended and created great tunes over the course of the weekend. There were many small art projects around ranging from trail/camp lighting, to a chill mediation space with lighting and stream, to a Burner Clothes Swap. There was no organized Ranger presence but several BRC Rangers were in attendance/acting in leadership capacity. A simple organizational structure was put in place for the event including parking, sound, DPW, and Officer of the Day with radios. The landowners dropped by on Sunday and were very pleased with the event. LNT was successful.

Financials
Tickets had no set price this year allowing those to pay what they felt they could afford. We offered a suggested price of $50 for those looking for guidance as to how much the event costs and wanting to help defray costs. 35 tickets were sold and ranged from $20 to $60. Parking space was a limited so we incentivized carpooling by offering parking passes at $20 each.$300 was donated to the non-profit that land owners run in support of local Native Americans. There were no art grants this year.
